| ABOUT BRUNKALLA VIOLINS Quality Materials Every Brunkalla violin is expertly hand-crafted from premium seasoned tonewoods. The majority of Martin's instruments are constructed in the traditional manner using spruce for the top plate and flamed maple for the back, ribs, and neck. Fingerboard, saddle, and nut are select ebony. Other matched appointments are usually ebony, rosewood or boxwood. Quality Construction The nut, saddle, fingerboard, top and back plates are attached with traditional hide glue so that they may be removed by a qualified luthier for repair or replacement, should the need ever arise. Top and back plates are individually tuned for maximum response and the best possible tone. Five-string violins, and violins with necks made from woods other than maple are reinforced with an ultra-strong, lightweight graphite-epoxy rod under the fingerboard. Customization Options The buyer may specify materials and design details when comissioning a custom instrument. Wood choices include traditional spruce and maple construction, or black walnut, cherry, koa, birch, poplar, Douglas fir, Western red cedar, Adirondak red spruce, Calfornia redwood and more. The buyer may also elect to supply their own special wood, provided it is structurally suitable. In addition to traditional four-string violins, Martin offers five-string versions and a remarkable 5-string viola based on the "Tertis" model. Reasonably Priced Top Quality Instruments Instrument prices vary with the grade of materials chosen, choice of fittings, and the degree of difficulty working some of the more exotic and highly figured woods. Prices range from $4,800.00 USD to $30,000.00 USD and are subject to change without notice. At the time of comissioning, a 10% down payment is required, with the balance due upon delivery. |
