The example shown is made from Osage Orange wood, also known as "Hedge". It is a common hardwood, but is rarely suitable for violin bows. I had the good fortune of securing a small quantity of Osage with excellent properties for bow-making. It has been air-dried 30+ years, straight-grained (really rare for this species), and has a specific gravity and resilience very close to high-grade Pernambuco.
This particular series of bows was based on a Tourte model, has an octagonal stick, fully lined frog with French eye, 3-part button, goatskin grip. and German silver wire lapping. Weight is 64 grams (haired).
Note: as of this writing, the quest for more "bow-worthy" Osage continues as the above-mentioned stock has been used up. Meanwhile, I also provide bows in select Pernambuco. Call about comissioning a custom bow.
